What is Group Expenses?
You and your roommates (or trip mates) spend money and lose track of who paid what. Group Expenses is one ToolYour account tool: create a group, invite with a code, add spends in seconds, see who owes whom in plain language, settle when cash is paid, and keep history.
Who it is for: hostel roommates, flatmates, trip groups, household pots. What it is not: a bank, a payment app, Google Sheets, REST, or MCP. Sign-in required.
What are common questions about Group Expenses?
Do I need to sign in?
Yes. Group Expenses stores your groups and history on your ToolYour account. Guests see a sign-in wall on this page.
How does splitting work?
Each spend is split equally among everyone in the group by default. Balances update so you can see who should pay whom.
Is this on the API or MCP?
No. Browser + account only. It is not on the REST catalog, MCP server, or npm SDK.
Can I use it for a trip and for the hostel?
Yes. One tool. When you create a group, pick a type (roommates, trip, household, pot). Same screens.
What does Settle do?
It records that someone paid someone else. Spend history stays; balances clear for that pair.
