Use llms.txt Builder three ways

The free llms.txt Builder on this page works in your browser. The same workflow is available via REST API for apps and via MCP for Cursor, Claude, and other agents — one API key, one plan, one quota. This tool is part of the seo-apis module under Digital Tools.

  • Free in browserUse llms.txt Builder here — no account required.
  • REST APICall from your server with X-Api-Key.
  • MCP for agentsConnect Cursor or Claude to ToolYour MCP with the same key.
  • 1. Get an API keySign in and open Dashboard → API Keys (works for REST and MCP).
  • 2. Call or connectUse the REST API from your server, or paste the MCP URL into your agent config.
  • 3. Same qualityOutput matches the free web tool across all three surfaces.

What is llms.txt Builder?

Agent and crawler discovery files work best when they follow the llmstxt.org shape: one H1, a blockquote summary, then

sections with absolute markdown links. Guessing unverified “docs candidate” URLs just creates noise.

This builder fetches your URL, cleans the site name, quotes the meta description as the summary, collects same-origin links from nav/footer, probes high-value paths (docs, MCP, pricing, etc.), and only includes links that respond successfully. No generative AI — deterministic fetch/parse/probe only.

Use it as a starting draft. If you already have a curated /llms.txt (like ToolYour’s production file), merge carefully instead of overwriting.

What are common questions about llms.txt Builder?

Does this use generative AI?

No. The stub is built from title/meta, nav links, and HTTP probes of docs/API paths.

Will it list URLs that 404?

No. Candidate paths are probed; only reachable (2xx/3xx) links are included.

Will it overwrite my live llms.txt?

No. It only returns a stub in the report. You publish manually after editing.

What if llms.txt already exists?

The tool flags that the origin file is reachable so you can merge carefully.

Is this as good as a hand-written llms.txt?

No. It follows the llmstxt.org shape with verified links. Curated positioning and product facts still need human edit.

Is llms.txt a Google ranking factor?

No. It is a voluntary discovery convention for agents/crawlers.

How is this different from MCP .well-known discovery?

llms.txt describes the website/product. /.well-known/mcp describes how to connect to an MCP server.
