What is Text Statistics?

Editors, students, and SEOs need a fast word count before hitting publish limits — CMS caps, essay minimums, meta description length checks, or client briefs. ToolYour Text Statistics accepts pasted text and returns characters (with and without spaces), words, sentences, paragraphs, estimated reading and speaking time, optional Flesch reading ease, and top repeated words.

Honest limits: Counts follow standard whitespace and punctuation rules — numbers and hyphenated terms may count differently than another tool. Flesch is an approximate formula, not a grade-level guarantee. Very long pastes may slow the browser tab; split chapters if needed.

Same stats via REST (POST https://api.toolyour.com/api/v1/text-utilities/text-stats) and MCP on one API key.

What are common questions about Text Statistics?

Does this count words like Microsoft Word?

Usually close, not identical. Hyphenation, numbers, and punctuation rules can differ slightly between tools. Use one counter consistently within a project.

What is Flesch reading ease?

A readability formula (higher = easier). It uses sentence length and syllable estimates — useful for comparing drafts, not for legal compliance.

Can I analyze per paragraph?

Yes — use paragraph mode when offered to see word counts and reading time per block (helpful for long articles).

Is my text stored?

Processed for the stats request only. Do not paste secrets you would not type into a web form.

REST API and MCP?

Yes. JSON body to https://api.toolyour.com/api/v1/text-utilities/text-stats or MCP at https://api.toolyour.com/mcp.
